Have you ever seen International House Hunters? It's where seemingly 30-ish in age couples with about three kids can buy a million dollar home in some other country for their "vacation" from time to time to get away from it all. Must be nice. Central to the theme is the view which is repeated incessantly and a place where the occupants can take their meals outdoors. Ah, to be in Tuscany in your million dollar villa that you put another 250K euro in to "restore," dining out in the yard with a glass of wine over looking your olive grove. I love that show with a purple passion. Sigh.
So why can't I have my own Al Fresco dining, right here in Germantown, TN? Well I can! And that's going to be my goal this summer...eat outside as much as possible and get my yard in the kind of state that I just want to sit out there and look at it. On Saturday night, I got a head start. Grilled up some Italian sausages, threw my Whole Foods bread on the grill to crisp it up, made my sauce outside...and voila. My only little (sort of) Tuscan (that's a stretch) meal out on the terrace (back porch) overlooking my grove (neighbor's bamboo that irks me to no end). I'll get there. Stay tuned.
