Lines Lines Everywhere There are Lines

So I was in Los Angeles last week. This was the "line" to see the stars to the premiere of Eclipse--not see the movie--just a glimpse of the stars. They'd been there about 4 days and these were their tents.

And here is the line for the iPod. Can't this thing be ordered online? Seriously, this line wrapped around an LA city block. I'd never seen anything like it.

And then there was the Pink Berry line. It's yogurt people. Is it that spectacular? Okay, well they did have this melty Nestle Crunch bar stuff that they claimed was from Italy...um, so it "might" have been worth it. But still. Calm down people.

And here was the line at Delta LAX. This is the security line OUTSIDE. Yes, it had looped all the loops, gone down countless check-in kiosks and was outside at stop 5 no doubt. A 55 minute wait...my all time longest.

Only in LA would people be so nice and kind to their fellow man in such "circumstances." Okay, so they choose to lose a day of work to get a phone (I personally wish cell phones had never been invented) and there is camaraderie in being all Team Jacob and Team Edward, etc. So more power to them. And one has no choice but to wait at airline security--and in a pleasant 74 degrees--didn't even mind being outside to do so. But if Delta just had supplied some Pink Berry with the "Italian" chocolate melty stuff.

Move over cupcakes...

I predict snow cones will be the next big food trend...I used to think only Americans had a thing for "ice." Not so! Enjoy this good read about how snow cones are indigenous to many countries.

Jerry's Sno Cones

I've been too busy eating snow cones of late to blog.

I think Democrats and Republicans need to convene upon Jerry's Sno Cones on Wells Station and end their ridiculous squabbles over a cherry supreme. Let me describe. Cherry shaved ice plus vanilla soft serve = world peace. When it's a heat index of 106 degrees (no joke) and I can only work in my prized yard for 20 minutes before reaching stroke level and when my beloved eyeliner is running down my face, then I know it's time for a trip to Jerry's. And there amongst all the diversity Memphis can offer up--the Mexican Mafia in tricked out trucks, the East Memphis elite, poor white, poor black, rich white, rich black, a million kids and even a guy with his pet snake around his neck-- we all get along and something is good with the world.

Jerry's makes me love Memphis even more than usual.

Home Improvement #902 - Stained Glass Window

Folks know I love my stained glass. Love it so much I could live in a church. So it was with delight that I came accross a window in a St. Louis antique shop that was almost the exact size as my bathroom window. Circa 1930's with only mild smoke damage and a small crack.

Given I had new Pella windows installed this year, I had it installed part and parcel to that. The window itself, a bargain at only about $125, repairs at Bright Light Glass Studio about $80, and installation around $200. To have one like this made and installed would be twice as much.

Before, ugly alluminum window. I'm so glad that each and every one of these are all gone.

And the new one after a little exterior paint job...

And from the inside... It's nice to wake-up to this every morning.
